On tap for Tuesday...

Not a whole lot, thankfully.

Your dad's cell phone seems to be recovering nicely from its bout with laryngitis (though he seriously asked me if he shouldn't put his phone in the oven or the microwave to dry it out faster! That man is a menace ....) Although I can't vouch for that poor phone's likelihood of enjoying a long life: he dropped it out of his pocket AGAIN last night when he took Lily out to pee before bedtime, and we were lucky enough to notice and locate it before going to bed ....

Unfortunately, Lydia appears to have caught the cellphone's cold. She was complaining of a sore throat and a stuffy nose before bed, and woke up feeling much the same. I plied her with hot cocoa and french toast for breakfast, loaded up her pockets with cough drops, and sent dad to Target for more Dayquil. Plus I put mashed potatoes and beef stew on the menu tonight, a meal guaranteed to put Lydia in a good frame of mind.

We tackled Geometry homework for the third time last night, and it's going better. Mr. Lenz did inform Lydia that she needed to use a ruler to draw her X-Y axes and tidy up her work -- better it should come from him than from me! However, after the difficult venture into lines and planes, the second venture into rays and line segments was a cakewalk by comparison. Let's hope this trend continues.

I managed to squeeze in an hour of sewing last night, to finish up the brocade handbag for you. It's got a bit "firmer" hand than I had anticipated; the pattern wanted me to use very stiff hair canvas to back the outer fabric, I opted for lightweight sew-in interfacing. But the brocade was rather thick and spongy, probably could have opted out of the backing altogether. You'll see when you get it - tell me what you think.

Last chance to put in a bid for other stuff to go in the box. It gets taped shut tonight and shipped out on Wednesday....fair warning!

I'm trying to put together a CARE package or something soothing for Jennifer et al. A giftie box to let her know we're on her side. I was thinking of embroidering a new white bath towel with something cute, tucking in a scented candle and some bath salts, maybe burning a gentle music CD, to encourage her to soak and relax. I've got three pairs of Halloween socks from the Target $ store for Dana, plus a onesie I got on clearance. Thought Amelia might like a little doorhanger that says "The Princess is Sleeping" along with a new book, some crayons, and a puzzle (she really likes puzzles!). Not sure what Tom could use - maybe a gift certificate for take-out pizza? All ideas and suggestions gratefully accepted, of course!

I'm trying to work out the lettering/design/image for another tote bag, using my "Cinderella is proof that a new pair of shoes can change your life." I think I'm going to buy this design when my embroidery design website has another sale.

But not done in shades of yellow; I'm aiming for the Cinderella Ball Gown Blue, accented with tiny white rhinestones. Perfect for the fashionista or shopaholic in your life!

Lydia tells me (my own "little birdie"!) that Owen was meeting you for breakfast this morning. That must be fun! Seems like a whirlwind courtship, if you ask me....

Hope you survived kick boxing last night in good enough shape to manage your skating session at noon today, and that the postcard-label sticking project at work doesn't bore you to tears. I've managed to record the HP 7 cds onto one DVD playlist - you just need to upload the playlist to your iTunes, and then you can listen to Jim Dale's soothing voice while you monotonously sticker postcards or file.

TTFN,
love,
Mom

Lots of stuff seems to have been going on at home today! with the whole cell phone escapade and Lydia not feeling so well geez...

I agree with all of the ideas for the Jen and Tom care package. I know if I were in that situation I would love to receive something like that.

I can't wait to see the bag you have created for me!!!!!!!! it is sure to be a masterpiece! That shoe pattern is positively adorable... fashionista bag here we come! Haha I think you are really getting very clever with your sewing machines. I'm very impressed.

Yes Owen and I are being swept up in a crazy relationship adventure. I hope I can manage all of this together time... well at least I don't have too much to do yet. He will just have to deal with my time I have and sleep is definately high on my priority list! haha

Tell Lydster to get better soon
hugs
