Good to hear that your Biology exam went smoothly - no surprises, no unpleasant panics. I really hope that you're getting some of our lovely weather before that Hurrican Jake comes charging in. We're sweltering at nearly 90 degrees today, and above 80 all weekend....
And man! how about those Twins! Don't know if you've been following the baseball pennant races, but after a really lousy road trip, the Twins roared back to sweep three games from the White Sox, catapulting themselves into first place. And last night's game was a real nail-biter. They bobbled a couple balls and ended up behind, 6-1, in the seventh inning. Then managed to claw their way back to win, 7-6 in the tenth inning! Dad went out to watch the game (not on our cable channel package), and was so bummed because he gave up and came home in the 10th inning, just before they finally won the thing!
So now the fantasy match up would be for the Twins to win the division, and then beat the Tampa Bay Devil Rays, while the Cubs did the same in their league. Then we'd have the ultimate Eifrig/Pineault World Series match up: Twins vs. Cubs. Dream on, though; that's not likely to happen in our lifetimes...
Not much new on the home front, nor on tap for the weekend. Kevin may come over on Sunday afternoon to finish off the garage side of the dining room. Your dad may start the last coat of painting on Saturday. As of now Lydia has no plans, but that is subject to change without notice, as usual. I'll probably make a trip to Joann's to look at fabric choices for Amelia's Cinderella gown, but will most likely buy the fabrics at SR Harris - cheaper and more choices.
Definitely going to start cutting down the garden this weekend. The annuals have all been pulled out of the gardens, and we've emptied all of the petunia pots because they were looking disheveled. I can sense fall coming on because every morning when I take the dog out, I see a few fallen leaves on the grass. Not a ton yet, but they're starting. I just hope that once again we can get the garden and lawn cleaned up well before the snow falls.
It's fun to hear that you're going to visit the Burlington figure skating club and take a lesson with Jonathan - I think I've seen his photo on the UVM skating club webpage. You'll have to let us know if you need help with $$$ for this, 'cause it won't come cheap to buy on to their ice as a non-member/visitor.
We'll be thinking of you this weekend when we bake streusel muffins and make chicken soup! Send photos, Lydia is dying to see your dorm room and dad needs to get a glimpse of the campus, etc. I'll bet your leaves are just starting to turn, and it must be gorgeous!
Love,
Mom
