Heffalumps and Woozels - It's Hump Day!

Wednesday, mid week, just get me through the rest of this week with what remains of my sanity intact, dear Lord!

It's always tougher, that second week of school. Reality hits: summer is over. No more carefree cookouts and booty shorts. No more endless days of flip flops and fun. Instead, the dreaded Homework looms large .... and adults have to start battening down the hatches for winter.

Lydia's having a problem organizing her after school hours now that she has no skating to occupy her time. We've had to put our foot down, much to her annoyance, on things like crap television, endless My Space time, and constant trips down to the park with her friends. And we instituted the Basic Rules of Cell Phones: no cell phone use whatsoever after 9pm, and absolutely no cell phone in the same room with her while she's doing homework. It's impossible to concentrate or focus, when she's dropping her homework to read or respond to text messages.

Thankfully, though, the geometry homework went smoothly last night. Miraculously, the lessons I'd tried to teach the night before had sunk in overnight (amazing what a decent night's sleep will do!) Now let's see how Confirmation Class goes tonight.

Got your message that you need more black pens; I'll drop some into the box tonight. Looked for some new ragg socks on a late-night Target trip (Lydia needed a new lock for her locker, the one you gave to her was sticking something fierce, even after two applications of WD-40), and the only ones there were butt-ugly. Honestly, they didn't look like ragg socks, they looked like socks that were just covered in dryer lint, like someone had forgotten a wad of Kleenex in their pocket when the socks were washed. I'll take a gander over at Marshalls this weekend, if I get a chance.

Don't tell your dad, but I was offered two great tickets to the Vikings-Colts game on Sunday at noon, and had to turn them down because Kevin Cody is coming to work on the porch (and the family is coming for dinner). It just wouldn't have been right to leave Kevin alone working to go off to the game, and then scoot back at 4pm to make dinner. Tough choice, I admit, but I would really like to get that dining room done in time to use it all winter.

So glad that you got a chance to skate again last night! Hope it felt as good as you had hoped it would feel. Talk to you soon,
Love,
Mom

Well that's Lydia for you. Lots of smoke and noise without much progress. I hope she can realize that (sooner rather than later) and learn how to learn. Well good luck and I will be back to help mid December. YEAH!

Take it easy on the socks search. I don't need them yet (not mission crucial) I will be more than okay until thanksgiving. Maybe Grandma can take me shopping one day.

So I finally found the table for the Ballroom club and I signed up. There is a meeting from 10-11 tonight (late I know) and we are doing salsa. So I think I am going to change my mind and ask for the dance shoes to be sent up too (only if there is room).

Love ya lots
