What? It's not Friday yet???

Both Lydia and I woke up feeling the same way this morning: it's been a really long week, and neither of us can believe that we still have another day to go. Sigh....guess we will just have to slog onwards...

Last night was Sanctuary Scare night at confirmation class. Lydia brought her friend Emily along, since they were just having dinner and watching the black & white silent version of Phantom of the Opera. Both of them dressed up: Lydia in her Saucy Pirate Wench outfit (photos to follow, of course) and Emily as Dorothy from Wizard of Oz. Very cute together. They're planning to trick-or-treat in our neighborhood tomorrow, and then I am driving them to her mother's house on Lake Harriet for a sleepover. Another night as an Empty Nester Mom!

Still rather chilly and uncomfortable in the household, but that is to be expected. On Saturday morning at 3am, whilst drinking coffee at Perkins, I made a personal decision that so long as your dad and I are still living under the same roof, I am not having another drink of wine or anything else alcoholic. I'm not going to facilitate his drinking problem, nor do I want to cope with his outbursts on anything less than a clear head. It's really pissing him off, he doesn't understand why I won't drink any more, but I think it's a decision for the best.

He's starting to understand that he's bored, having so much less work than he did last year, and consequently having to hang around the house all the time. To compensate, he wants to go out to watch a sports event and have dinner & drinks, so that he can have some fun and get out of the house. When what he really should be doing is looking for a part-time job to occupy some of his daylight hours, to provide a social outlet and earn some money. Then perhaps he wouldn't feel the need to go out gallivanting in bars all the time. Honestly, he's getting a bit old for this.

Not much on tap for the weekend. I need to perform dress surgery (panty transplant for Nicole's dress, to get it back to her for the St. Cloud competition), and I want to keep cleaning out my closets and the basement. Think I'm going to tackle the front door closet - there are so many unworn winter coats taking up space in there, it's ridiculous. Ditto the number of caps, hats, scarves and mittens that litter the floor and are never worn. Need to pare that down to a more reasonable quantity. Don't worry, I won't throw anything of yours away without asking you first!

Thanks for all your quick phone calls in between classes; I love hearing from you. I find myself checking the webcam at Davis Center a couple times a day, just to keep track of your weather and to watch the clouds. Only seven more weeks until we get to see you again for Christmas!

Keep warm. Love,
Mom
