Over the hump....downhill to Friday!

I know exactly what you mean about the weirdness of time elapsing, how days can individually seem interminably long, and yet the week seems to whiz right by! Odd, the way time works...

So, it's Thursday -- what can I tell you about our Thursday in Minnesota? Let's see ... Lydia's knee has deflated from its balloon-like state of Tuesday night, and she is now just sporting a very impressive blue/purple bruise there. Her toe is no longer raw and swollen, just two wee scabs and no pain. Got off easy there.

Dad finished his last recording session with Richard Clark last night, and managed not to allow his temper to explode, though he was sorely provoked. Richard is indeed an idiot of the first order, and these recording sessions have been really badly managed. To top it all off, Richard sort of overran his budget, and ended up paying your dad considerably less than dad was expecting to receive. Partly dad's fault, though, for not fixing a price before the project started, and just trusting Richard's assurances that he would "take care of him."

Minnesota Orchestra called this week to hire dad last minute for the concert series next week, so that's good news for the budget.

We're tasked with taking care of Logan again this weekend, which is a bit of a nuisance, but at least it's only two days.

Lydia now has a five-day weekend, it being MEA Weekend out here. Not quite sure what her plans are, but I'm fairly convinced that they will include at least one sleepover at our house, and a couple trips to the mall with friends.

Amelia got to look at the Cinderella Blog last night, and was enthralled. Then immediately demanded "More pictures! I want more pictures!" While Lydia was at confirmation class last night, I managed to finish hand-hemming the satin skirt, do the gathering on the top edge, and sewing the whole thing together - it is now a dress! Took some photos last night as a sop to Amelia, but haven't had time to upload and post them. That will have to wait until tonight...remains only to put in the zipper, and figure out what to do about a crinoline to hold out the skirts.

The pattern does include a proper crinoline for this dress, but it requires about 8 yards of boning (it ends up being kind of like a hoop skirt!). The boning slips inside of a casing, one around the thigh level and one below the knees. However, the boning will definitely make it impossible to fold the crinoline up into a box for mailing....I think I'm going to have to coil up the boning into a bag, sew the crinoline, and provide explicit instructions to Jennifer on assembly once the costume arrives at her house. I'm hoping to ship this all off on Saturday - wish me luck!

Hope you manage to survive the last two days of the week, and look forward to this big dance on the weekend! Hugs,
Mom
