I think I found the perfect advice for me to live by:
HOW TO CLEAN THE HOUSE
1. Open a new file in your PC.
2. Name it "Housework."
3. Send it to the RECYCLE BIN
4. Empty the RECYCLE BIN
5. Your PC will ask you, "Are you sure you want to deleteHousework permanently?"
6. Calmly answer, "Yes," and press the mouse buttonfirmly......
7. Feel better? Works for me!
8. Housework is taken care of....Now GO SEW!!!
I love this!!!!
Let's see, what did we manage to accomplish this weekend? Lydia was pretty darn tired (she and Emily must have stayed up until 4am watching horror movies after trick-or-treating), so she stayed pretty close to home. One mall excursion on Saturday afternoon, and one movie at Erin's on Sunday afternoon.
Dad worked at St. Bart's most of the weekend: services Saturday night, masses on Sunday morning, and another choir concert on Sunday afternoon, which meant I could get a lot accomplished at home.
Which, of course, I didn't do. I never seem to get as much done as I'd like to, and certainly never manage to get through my entire To Do list. Spent a couple hours doing laundry and culling through junk in the basement again (two more bags filling up the trash can, yahoo!) and then cut out a jeans-style jacket for myself. About a year ago, I had bought a nice canvas weight paisley fabric in olive green and ice blue, so I thought it was about time I made it up. I want to dress it up a bit, so I flat-lined it in a sage green silky polyester lining fabric. I found a new trick for flat-lining -- temporary adhesive spray! The kind I use for my machine embroidery. I cut the pieces out of the canvas fabric, sprayed the back of each with a shot of adhesive, and then just laid the pieces one by one onto the lining fabric and smoothed them down. Cut around the pieces leaving a wide margin, machine-basted the lining to the face fabric, and then trimmed the lining close to fit. No pinning the individual pieces onto the lining - snap! I promise I'll send you photos tomorrow before I start sewing it together, and by gosh I am going to master the buttonholes on this one!
Before I forget: if you have time tomorrow, send an email to Jennifer. It's her birthday tomorrow, and her 40th birthday to boot. She's having kind of a rough fall, so I'm sure she'd appreciate some warm fuzzies coming her way.
Dad tells me that your UVM weather is really chilly. I'm so sorry! We're having record high temps here today, supposedly up to 70+ degrees. I'll try to think good thoughts and send it your way....
And don't forget what I asked for last night! I need Christmas ideas....if there is anything your dorm room is lacking, or clothing that you're just dying for, or just plain old cash for expenses and treats, let me know!
Hugs,
Mom

That is the best way ever to clean the house! I love it.
I can't wait to see all of your sewing projects when I get back home. By the way, I actually have a project that we might be able to get done over Christmas break. You know the ice dance dress you made me? In black and white? Well I was wondering if you could fix the sleeves and then I could wear it for the ballroom competitions. It was just a thought.
I am still thinking of Christmas ideas, I promise, but I am stumped for a bit. If you could give me ideas for you and the rest of the family, that would be great.
Love you lots
~Kyriel
