A roommate! a room! Hooray!

Hip, hip, hooray! Kyriel's got a roommate today! (and at least a week or so earlier than I anticipated, given the ResLife prediction of "mid August" notifications!). So glad that Sarah and you are going to be roommates, it's so nice that you've already got some sort of connection to the Person With Whom You Share Living Quarters. Even if she doesn't end up being your absolute best friend in the universe, you seem to know enough about her to be comfortable living together for nine months.

And boy, she's quick out of the starting blocks! Already texting you to say she's bringing the fridge, can you bring the microwave? Easy as pie on my part, it's less work to haul a microwave up three flights of stairs than a refrigerator, in my book.

Grandpa keeps emailing to offer his help driving - he proposes that we make the round trip in one day, and he'll help out driving back. I declined, politely of course. I still have visions of his huffing and puffing up FOUR flights of stairs when I first moved into the dorms at Colgate, and grandma thought he'd have a coronary. That was 30+ years ago! If he tries to help you move in, and humps your boxes up those stairs, he'll be so exhausted that I'll still have to make the drive home by myself while he sleeps in the shotgun seat next to me to recover....not worth it.

I've already put in a reservation for an audiobook copy from the Southdale library for the Deathly Hallows book to listen to on my ride back to Connecticut. I figure it's a long enough book to last the whole way back. No more surfing for radio stations between the mountains!

Hugs to you, sweetie! We leave in just a couple weeks. Must plan the State Fair expedition, the last Minnesota send-off for you.
